CANEAST IMMIGRATION
Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)

Graduating from a Canadian institution is a major achievement — and it can also be the first step toward permanent residence. A Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows you to gain valuable Canadian work experience after your studies, opening pathways through Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs. Caneast Immigration ensures your application is accurate, timely, and strategically positioned for your future plans.

Eligibility & PGWP Basics
To qualify for a PGWP, you must:
- Have completed a full-time program of at least 8 months in duration at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
- Apply within 180 days of receiving official confirmation that you’ve met all requirements to complete your program (e.g., transcript or completion letter).
- Have held a valid study permit at some point during those 180 days.
- Not have previously been issued a PGWP.

- The PGWP is typically issued for the same length as your program, up to a maximum of 3 years.
- Graduates of programs longer than 2 years are generally eligible for a 3-year PGWP.
- The permit is open, meaning you can work full-time or part-time for almost any employer in Canada.
- PGWPs are issued only once per lifetime and are not extendable.
After the PGWP
When your PGWP is close to expiry, you may need to transition to another status depending on your situation — such as a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) if you’ve applied for permanent residence, or a visitor record if you wish to remain in Canada without working.
Why Work with Caneast Immigration
A PGWP may seem straightforward, but timing and accuracy are critical. Applications filed late, with incomplete documents, or with errors risk being refused. At Caneast Immigration, we align your application with current immigration law, program delivery instructions, and officer discretion to ensure you maintain your legal status and maximize future PR opportunities.
With us, you’re not just applying for a work permit — you’re setting up the foundation for your long-term future in Canada.
